I don't understand spam. I'm assuming that there is money to be made in the buying and selling of addresses or something, but it baffles me that they don't even try to make it look like they're selling a supposedly legitimate product or service anymore.
I received a spam stock tip offer today entitled "Least sense." They've given up even TRYING to trick me. It sort of hurts my feelings.
The nonsensical title is related to attempted to bypass Bayesian spam filters through the use of a 'word salad' to get it through the filter, while the content of the email is actually an embedded image that can't be filtered for content.
As for stock spam, it has its own dynamics...not unlike Nigerian 409 scams, most participants probably know it is pretty iffy but do it anyway because they think they have an angle. I think this article does a good job explaining it
